Stress Disorders
Stress contributes to a great many mental and physical health problems. In cases when the stress response is overactive or unrelenting, health challenges may arise. In addition, many biological disorders are made worse by stress. This often sets up a vicious cycle where ill health causes stress, which worsens health, causing more stress and so on.
Stress Management skills training will teach you how to eliminate stressors from your life and Biofeedback will teach you how to manage your psychophysiological response to those stressors that can not be eliminated. Dr. Heymen uses Biofeedback, CBT, and DBT to help patients manage their response to stress and minimize the harmful effect on health for the following conditions:
Hypertension
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Insomnia
Fibromyalgia
Muscle tension headache, neck, and back pain
Migraine headache
